Welcome to “The Week Ahead” where we take a moment to provide our thoughts on what we can expect in markets and the economy during the upcoming week.
Fly Eagles Fly! Congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles for winning their first Super Bowl. Not only were we surprised by the Super Bowl winner (except for all you die hard Philly fans!) but we saw a surprise showing of volatility. First, early in the week as emerging markets sold off as investors took profits in the high flying ANTS. Then on Friday as fears of inflation rattled investors. Hawkish Fed posturing and a strong wage growth report had many investors thinking that they may have underestimated inflation expectations.
The week ahead is relatively light in terms of economic data. Given the recent volatility we encourage you to read our Market Action Update that provides some perspective on the recent market movement.
