It is a pleasure to highlight Nicole Barber, a Corporate Banker in Dallas, TX, as First Foundation’s Volunteer of the Month. Nicole began volunteering with City House in Plano, TX, after moving to Dallas in 2022. City House provides vital services to youth and young adults who are experiencing homelessness, abuse, or neglect. They aim to provide emergency shelter and transitional residential services to lead vulnerable youth toward independence and a more stable future while ensuring they feel connected, cared for, and safe. Through her volunteer work, Nicole helps facilitate activities for the kids, whether arts and crafts, playing uno and hide and seek, or helping with schoolwork.
“It brings me so much joy working with the kids,” says Nicole. “Despite the awful situations they are coming from, they are still just kids and enjoy goofing around and having fun. I feel very connected to City House’s mission and their work for the kids facing life’s hardest circumstances.”
Nicole began donating her time and talent while living in Las Vegas, NV, volunteering with The Academy of Finance at Clark High School for 6 years. While there, she mentored four high school students interested in pursuing careers in finance. Nicole also became involved with Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth, a nonprofit in Las Vegas, NV, that offers emergency shelter and essential items for youth in crisis. Since one-on-one interactions were limited during the pandemic, Nicole organized workplace clothing, food, and toiletry donations.
Nicole’s volunteer efforts enrich the lives of the many young people she has touched and strengthen the fabric of community support. Thank you, Nicole, for everything you do!
