Our Community Impact team recently visited a longstanding nonprofit corporate partner, Quiet Storm Foundation in Las Vegas. Quiet Storm was founded by NBA star C.J. Watson and his family to foster educational learning opportunities, social skills development, service-learning engagement, as well as health/fitness and recreational experiences for local children and young adults throughout the year. They partner with public schools, family agencies, businesses, and organizations to bring opportunities for the community to serve youth in need.
First Foundation was first introduced to the Quiet Storm Foundation in 2017, and this was our second major engagement with this tremendous nonprofit organization as we continue to build a strong multi-faceted partnership. In addition to the engagement, the organization is a Supporting Our Communities grant recipient, and First Foundation employee, Kynesha Jackson, is an active member of the organization’s board and their financial secretary. We were inspired by their mission to have a positive impact on underserved youth by providing educational and recreational opportunities. In our most recent work, our team led a board training session. Our CRA Lending Officer, Barbara Melvin, delivered training on an inspiring concept called P.A.S.S.I.O.N., which stands for: Purpose, Action, Setting goals, Social media, Innovation, Operations, and Networking. The skills taught through the training we provided will help Quiet Storm increase their fundraising skills, improve their business strategy, and provide greater impact with their programs.
Acknowledging the education shared during the training, Cathy Watson, Executive Chairman and Co-Founder remarked, “Offering these pro bono philanthropy services certainly sets First Foundation apart from any other banks out there.”
We were so pleased to work collaboratively with Quiet Storm and help them as they continue to grow their organization to realize a greater impact on the underserved youth in the Las Vegas community.
