Banking on Service and Community in Big Bear Lake

At First Foundation Bank’s Big Bear Lake branch, Client Service Manager Marie Morris leads with heart—both in the office and in the community she proudly calls home.

A dedicated member of the Rotary Club of Big Bear Lake, Marie finds deep fulfillment in volunteering and considers it a lifelong calling. Most recently, she supported a dental screening initiative for students at two local elementary schools. Alongside fellow Rotarians, she helped ensure the event ran smoothly, giving young students access to much-needed dental care.

“It was heartwarming to witness the eagerness of the children as they climbed into the dental chair,” she said. “A child’s confidence often stems from how they perceive themselves, and dental hygiene can play a significant role in that. Being able to directly engage with the community through Rotary strengthens our community bond and fosters a genuine sense of connection.”

Marie currently serves as the Rotary’s treasurer. The club plays a vital role in the fabric of the community. The Rotary runs several community events that work to improve the lives of community members. Each year the Rotary, in partnership with the city and visitor bureau, produces one of Southern California’s top five fireworks shows for the 4th of July. This annual celebration also includes a fundraising BBQ, with proceeds supporting programs like the annual Senior Lunch and Santa Program, which benefit low-income families across Big Bear Valley.

“Volunteering has always given me a strong sense of purpose and a deeper understanding of those around me,” Marie shares. “Service to others is an integral part of my life and has played a vital role in shaping my character. It brings me lasting joy to see the smiling faces of those I serve.”

Whether she’s helping a client navigate their financial goals or lending a hand at a local event, Marie embodies First Foundation’s commitment to making a meaningful impact. Her compassion, integrity, and dedication are an inspiration to colleagues and neighbors alike.

As part of First Foundation’s continued support for employee community involvement, Marie has selected Big Bear Meals on Wheels to receive a $100 donation on her behalf. The program delivers nutritious meals daily to seniors, homebound residents, and individuals with disabilities throughout Big Bear Valley. In addition to nourishment, each visit offers friendly conversation and an informal wellness check, promoting independence and easing isolation for many.

Thank you, Marie, for showing what it means to be a true community champion. Your example reminds us that small acts of service can ripple outward in powerful ways.
