Each month, we shine a spotlight on an extraordinary volunteer who gets involved to help build a better, more connected community. This month, we’re proud to honor Val Sandoval, Roseville Branch Manager, as our Volunteer of the Month.
Val’s dedication to community service and his passion for uplifting others make him an outstanding example of what it means to give back. As a board member of the Latino Leadership Council (LLC), Val has found a powerful way to channel his commitment to raising awareness, representation, and support for the Latino Community. The LLC supports Latino families by connecting them to medical services, assisting parents in navigating school systems and helping higher education feel accessible and achievable, youth development programs to foster leadership skills, and to uplift the socio-economic status of the Latino community overall.
Val is passionate about highlighting the beauty, strength, and diversity of Latino culture, and the Latino Leadership Council’s mission aligns perfectly with this vision. During his board interview, Val was moved by conversation about the organization’s impact. “I knew this was an organization I wanted to be part of long-term, both in service and in heart,” he shares.
Val also supports Lost But Not Forgotten (LBNF), a local organization that helps kids whose families are facing hardship, like an illness or death of a parent. “Knowing that LBNF gives these kids a chance to experience joy during the holidays, even during difficult times, truly resonates with me,” Val shares.
For Val, volunteering isn’t just about giving back – it’s about building meaningful connections. Through his work with the LLC, Roseville Chamber of Commerce, and other nonprofits, Val shares that he has met small business owners and community leaders from all backgrounds and put him directly in spaces where people are working to make a difference. These experiences have deepened Val’s understanding of Roseville’s needs, strengths, and stories, and have made the city feel even more like home.
But beyond wanting to give back to the community, Val’s biggest motivation comes from his two kids. “I want them to see that being a part of a community means showing up for each other, offering support, and lifting people up when they need it,” Val says. “I hope they learn that we all contribute to something bigger than ourselves.”
Val has chosen Latino Leadership Council to receive a donation on his behalf from First Foundation Bank. Thank you for all that you do, Val! We appreciate your enthusiasm and energy that you put into the Roseville community.
